For many fans, Tom Congdon may be as much a part of the ballpark experience as the players on the field at PNC Park.

The beer vendor known as TC seems to know everyone. And if he doesn't, he's willing to say hello, especially to a fan thirsting for a cold frosty brew.

What most fans probably don't know is the amount of time TC takes each gameday. His regimen includes rigorous stretching and the head-to-toe application of eucalyptus-based arthritis pain relief ointment.

His preparation yesterday began more than three hours before the ceremonial first pitch. TC wanted to be ready for Opening Day.
