Toy pliers

RadioShack Corp. is recalling about 25,000 child guidance toy pliers. The toy's sliding yellow knob can detach, posing a choking hazard.

The recall involves the child guidance "Busy Baby Activity Tool Pliers," which are about 6 inches long. The plastic toy has an orange handle, a red center knob and a yellow sliding knob on the side. The red center knob has "CHILD GUIDANCE" written on it. The battery-operated toy makes various electronic sounds, plays music and has flashing lights. The pliers also contain multicolored beads. A label on the back reads, "RadioShack."

The toy was sold at RadioShack stores and on the RadioShack Web site from August 2004 through February 2006 for about $6.

Consumers may return the toy pliers to any RadioShack store for a refund.

Exercise machines

Nautilus Inc. is recalling about 17,000 Bowflex Ultimate 2 home gyms. One end of the leg extension cable can release from the guide pulley and swing around, potentially striking the user or a bystander.

The name "Bowflex" and the model name "Bowflex Ultimate 2" are on the front of the lat tower and the sides of the main upright frame structure.

Nautilus Inc. sold the machines through direct sales to consumers and through specialty fitness retailers from June through December for about $2,300.

Owners are being sent a free kit, including a pulley bracket and a cable retainer assembly. Each of these items can be easily installed with a small tool that is included in the kit.

Charm bracelets

Oriental Trading Co. Inc. is recalling about 25,000 beaded photo charm bracelets. The recalled metal charm bracelets contain high levels of accessible lead, posing a serious risk of lead poisoning to young children. Lead poisoning in children is associated with behavioral problems, learning disabilities, hearing problems and growth retardation.

The recalled charm bracelets consist of silver-colored metal beads. A silver-colored metal heart frame is attached to the bracelet.

The bracelets were sold on Oriental Trading Co.'s Web site from July 2004 through September 2005 for about 50 cents each.

Consumers should contact Oriental Trading Co. to receive a refund or credit for the product. Oriental Trading Co. is contacting consumers who purchased the bracelets.

Children's jewelry

Dollar Tree Distribution Inc. is recalling about 580,00 mood necklaces and rings, glow-in-the dark necklaces and rings, and UV necklaces and rings. The recalled jewelry contains high levels of lead, posing a serious risk of lead poisoning and adverse health effects to young children.

The rings are silver in color and adjustable, and they have one of a variety of designs with a toy "gem" in the center. The necklaces have a black string with silver colored clasps and a silver charm with a "gem" in the center. The following are printed on the charms' packaging: "Mood Necklace," "Mood Ring," "Glow in the Dark Necklace," "Glow in the Dark Ring," "UV Necklace" or "UV Ring." The "UV" jewelry packaging reads, "The Sun's Energy Will Change The Color." On the reverse of the packaging is "SKU#815485" and the name "Mannix."

Dollar Tree, Dollar Bill$, Dollar Express, Greenbacks, Only $1 and Super Dollar Tree stores sold the items from September 2003 through February 2006 for $1.

Consumers should return the recalled jewelry to the store where purchased for a refund.

Toy trucks

QVC Inc. is recalling about 8,000 Thunder Spin R.C. Road Rage Stunt Machine toy trucks. Electrical circuits within the truck can overheat causing the toy to overheat, posing a risk of fire.

The Thunder Spin R.C. Road Rage Stunt Machine is 10 inches by 11 inches and was sold in blue or green. The radio-controlled Stunt Machine comes with one charger, one 9.6 V rechargeable battery pack, and one 9-volt battery. The model number, T23624, is written on only the product's packaging, located above the Universal Product Code. The Stunt Machine comes with two orange flame decals on each side of the vehicle, one of which includes "Stunt Machine" in orange block lettering. A "Thunder Spin" logo can be found on the bottom of the vehicle.

QVC Inc. sold the item from November through December for between $40 and $44.

QVC will send a letter to all purchasers of the product notifying them of the product's recall and instructing them to return the battery pack and battery charger to obtain a full refund.
