Family Film Guide: 'Ice Age: The Meltdown'
Friday, March 31, 2006

The Post-Gazette reviews movies from a family perspective:

Rated: PG.

Best for: Tweens and up.

What you should know: In the sequel to the animated "Ice Age," the glaciers are melting and the prehistoric animals are facing a global flood that could force entire species into extinction. The friends who met in the first film -- Diego the sabertooth tiger (voiced by Denis Leary), Manny the mammoth (Ray Romano) and Sid the sloth (John Leguizamo) -- try to save themselves and warn others of the impending disaster. Scrat, the acorn-chasing squirrel, is back as well.

Language: Several mild curse words, words suggesting adult situations and innuendo suggesting additional curse words and sexuality. Families who are sensitive to mild adult language might find some parts of the film offensive.

Sexual situations and nudity: Two animals talk at length about procreating, and an animal is caught in a compromising toilet situation.

Violence/scary situations: Sequences depict strong suspense regarding an impending disaster, frequent perilous scenes of action and the struggle for survival.

Alcohol and drug use: None.
