Josh Shields, David Pisarcik and Chris Dempsey recorded falls to lead the WPIAL All-Stars to a 31-22 come-from-behind win against the Delaware All-Stars in the preliminary match at the Dapper Dan Wrestling Classic yesterday at Pitt's Fitzgerald Field House.

Shields came to the mat with the WPIAL All-Stars trailing, 19-7, and recorded a fall at 2:34 in the 160-pound bout against Anthony Edwards of St. Marks. Shields was a PIAA Class AA runner-up.

Pisarcik gave the WPIAL All-Stars a 22-19 lead with a fall at 4:47 against Kaamil Algahanee of William Penn in the 189 class. Pisarcik was a PIAA Class AA runner-up; Algahanee was a Delaware champion.

Dempsey clinched the WPIAL's 14th consecutive victory in the preliminary match with a fall at 2:14 in the 275-pound bout against Brandon Kendzierski of Milford.

Dempsey was a PIAA Class AAA runner-up. Kendzierski was a two-time Delaware finalist and one-time champion.

The Delaware All-Stars featured three three-time state champions -- Ian Moser, Matt Cathell and Andrew Bradley -- and all three were victorious.

Moser, of Caesar Rodney High, posted a 10-2 victory against Gateway's Jay Ivanco at 125. Cathell, also from Caesar Rodney, pinned Mount Pleasant's Donnie Ament at 145. Bradley, of St. Marks, posted a 5-3 win against Avonworth's Curtis Branchen at 152.

Milford's Nathan Fleming wrestled in two bouts because of a scratch at 112 pounds. He opened the match with a 4-2 loss to McGuffey's Tyler Sim at 112, then closed the match with a 7-5 win against South Park's Vitaly Ivashchenko at 119.
