Church activities

Classes

Hempfield -- Westmoreland County Community College is conducting a five-week Emergency Medical Technician instructor course from 6 to 10 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays beginning March 27 at the Business & Industry Center on WCCC Youngwood campus, 400 Armbrust Road. The course is open to EMTs and paramedics, age 18 or older, who have a high school diploma or GED and cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification. Students must also have a letter of sponsorship from an emergency care training institute. Concerts

Greensburg -- The Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra is presenting "March Melange" at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Palace Theatre, 21 W. Otterman St. Featured artist is clarinetist Jose Franch-Ballester. The repertoire includes Haydn's Symphony No. 88, Copland's Clarinet Concerto and Brahms' Symphony No. 3. Tickets range from $10 to $36, with student rush tickets going for $5. Call 724-837-1850.

Fund raising

Hempfield -- The American Red Cross of Westmoreland County is sponsoring an autograph session with Steelers nose tackle Chris Hoke from 6 to 7:30 tonight in Center Court in Westmoreland Mall, Lincoln Highway. Call 724-836-5025.

Unity -- Sacred Heart School in Youngstown, Westmoreland County, is holding a Cash Bash from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday in Marian Hall, St. Bartholomew Church, Route 119. Penn Hills -- The Community Caring Corner of Epiphany Lutheran Church, 11200 Frankstown Road, is sponsoring an orientation for its First Place Christian-oriented weight-loss program from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday. In addition, the children's department is sponsoring the following free spring activity sessions for children from kindergarten through fourth grade from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Wednesdays. Registration is required.
