A 74-year-old woman accused of robbing a bank and leading police on a chase this week may be able to get out of jail soon.
A district judge this morning reduced a bond for Marilyn Devine of Baldwin Borough from $100,000 straight cash to $50,000 with the ability to use property as collateral. Judge Richard Olasz Jr. of West Mifflin granted the request of attorney Noah Geary after prosecutors did not object.
Mrs. Devine is accused of robbing a National City bank in West Mifflin before leading police on a 45-mph chase on Monday.
Today, she waived her right to a preliminary hearing. At a proceeding before Judge Olasz, prosecutors withdrew two counts of simple assault, a theft charge, and one count of possession of an instrument of a crime in an effort to streamline the case.
She still faces charges of robbery, a firearms violation, fleeing and eluding police, and another count of possession of instruments of a crime.
