Bomb threat halts screening of new Steelers DVD
Thursday, March 02, 2006

The Steelers' march to their fifth Super Bowl title was halted by a bomb threat.

Patrons at a VIP screening of the "Super Bowl XL Champions" DVD were evacuated from the AMC Loews Waterfront theater in West Homestead last night after the threat was phoned to Pittsburgh 911.

The screening was halted at about 8 p.m., just as the Steelers were beginning their playoff drive that featured road victories at Cincinnati, Indianapolis and Denver before the Super Bowl win over Seattle.

"I think it was a Seahawks fan," said Brian Shoaf, of Perry, Fayette County, who brought his son, Kameron, 9, to the viewing.

Police said the evacuation of about 800 people was orderly. Dogs canvassed the theater and found no explosives. There was no word on whether the event would be rescheduled.
