Business Notes

The Benkovitz Family, principals of the 91-year old wholesale and retail seafood business, said Dick and R.J. McSorley would join Nordic Fisheries and Benkovitz Seafoods as shareholders. The Benkovitz family will remain actively involved, with Joseph Benkovitz as president of Nordic Fisheries (wholesale business). Bernard Benkovitz will be a senior member of the company and its ambassador to the industry. In the retail business (Benkovitz Seafoods), Evelyn Benkovitz, will serve their customers at 23rd and Smallman streets.

Mullen partnered with The Alleghenies Tourism Council to produce an advertising, public relations and print campaign that includes a logo and theme line in a regional branding effort.

MAX Environmental Technologies Inc. has been granted an exclusion to the Hazardous Waste Regulations by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection for the treatment and disposal of Electric Arc Furnace dust.

The Association of Contingency Planners announced the chartering of the Pittsburgh Tri-State Chapter. The chapter will provide networking, educational, and professional development services to a growing number of business continuity professionals in Pittsburgh, West Virginia and Ohio. Contracts

Turner Construction Co. was chosen in competitive bidding to build the August Wilson Center for African American Culture. Construction of the $35.9 million state-of-the-art, facility will begin this spring. Turner will partner with local firms Sterling Contracting LLC and Ebony Development LLC to provide pre-construction and construction management services.

Transitional Services Inc. said the Allegheny County Office of Behavioral Health had awarded it a $4.2 million contract to manage a new program to provide affordable housing for people with mental health disabilities. The Permanent Supportive Housing initiative is designed to provide more than 200 reasonably priced apartments for people served by the county mental health system.

Southwestern Pennsylvania Commission selected Kolbrener to design and produce its annual report.

Farris Engineering, a business unit of the Curtiss-Wright Flow Control Corp., has an order valued at more than $1.4 million from Eastern Bechtel Co. Ltd. in London to supply as many as 555 pressure relief valves for a new $1.5 billion gas plant project in the United Arab Emirates. The Onshore Gas Development Phase III is managed by Abu Dhabi Gas Industries on behalf of Abu Dhabi National Oil Co.

Jack Horner Communications Inc. will provide public relations services for Youngstown, Ohio-based Schwebel Baking Co.'s 100th anniversary this year and for West Chester, Chester County-based Prescient Applied Intelligence Inc.

Dividends

Iron and Glass Bancorp declared a dividend of 26 cents per share, payable March 10 to shareholders March 3.

Emclaire Financial Corp. declared a quarterly cash dividend 27 cents per share, payable March 17 to shareholders of record March 1.

Commercial National Financial Corp. declared a quarterly dividend of 20 cents a share, payable March 10 to shareholders of record March 3.

Allegheny Valley Bancorp, Inc. declared a quarterly cash dividend of 55 cents per share, payable March 15 to shareholders of record March 3.

F.N.B. Corp. declared a quarterly cash dividend on its common stock of 23.5 cents per share, payable March 15 to shareholders of record March 5.

Awards/Honors

Jason Lenox, regional sales director for Suzuki of America, presented an award to James R. Shorkey III, 22, of Courtesy Suzuki in Irwin, to honor him as 10th highest volume individual Suzuki sales representative in the nation. He is the third generation at Courtesy. The dealership was founded by James R. Shorkey Sr., and the president is James R. Shorkey Jr.
