TURIN, Italy -- Briefly, Allison Baver was a Penn State cheerleader, so she has a little performance background beyond her short track speed skating. Now, she might get the chance to perform on a much different stage.
The brains behind the NBC show "The Apprentice" are considering Baver as a contestant to compete for a job working for entrepreneur Donald Trump.
"I think it will be a lot of fun," said Baver, 25. "It might be the next season. Hopefully, one American athlete from these Olympics will represent us on the show. It could be me."
Baver begins competition today with the 500 meters and the 3,000-meter relay. Following the Olympics, she would rather not give up skating for "The Apprentice."
"I would like to keep skating, but maybe I can skate by one of his buildings," she said. "I would like to skate inside the Trump Towers."
Baver earned an undergraduate degree in business from Penn State and is working on an MBA online through the New York Institute of Technology. She figures that might have made her attractive to the producers. She thinks a stint on "The Apprentice," especially if she should win, could help her off-ice or office, career.
"I would like to learn a lot from Trump," she said. "He might help me become a strong business woman."
