Missing North Versailles man sought
Friday, February 10, 2006

Police are seeking the public's help in finding an unemployed North Versailles man who disappeared last month.

Donald Smatlak, 25, was reported missing Jan. 31. Detectives from the North Versailles and Allegheny County police departments are working together on the case.

The last known contact was three days earlier at 4:11 p.m. when Mr. Smatlak spoke to his mother by cell phone. Investigators have determined he was inside or near his home in the 1000 block of Logan Road at the time.

Mr. Smatlak told his mother he was planning to go to a friend's house in Delmont, but never showed up there or at another friend's house he planned to visit afterward, North Versailles Detective Scott Kucic said.

Mr. Smatlak's car, a Mazda3, was found yesterday parked at Meyran Avenue and Louisa Street in Oakland.

Mr. Smatlak is white, 5-feet-11 and 220 pounds with a goatee and light mustache. He has a scar on his lower lip, a tattoo of a cross on his right ankle and a tattoo of a Chinese symbol on his back.

Anyone with information was asked to call North Versailles police at 412-823-1111 or county police at 412-473-3000.
