City officials will hold a groundbreaking ceremony on the Crescent Court Condominiums at Summerset at Frick Park tomorrow at 11 a.m.
Actual construction has begun, with completion expected this time next year, according to Ralph Falbo, one of the development partners.
The ceremony will be held at Crescent Place and Hasley Lane, Squirrel Hill. Parking will be available along Parkview Boulevard and Summerset Drive.
The 36 condos are part of a 240-acre, high-end community billed as "a new traditional neighborhood."
Mayor Bob O'Connor will lead a group of dignitaries in signifying the 5-year-old project that will ultimately number 700 single-family homes in three different but connected layouts. So far, 58 homes and 40 rental town homes are occupied in the first phase, with 65 more under construction or occupied.
The condos begin at $220,000, according to the Rubinoff Co., one of the partners of the Summerset Land Development Associates.
Middle-unit town homes and cottages run in the mid-to-high $200,000s. Estate homes top out around $600,000.
