No Walgreens decision
Friday, February 03, 2006

The Pittsburgh Zoning Board of Adjustment will decide within 45 days whether the Walgreens proposed at Penn and Braddock avenues can use residential land for a drive-through.

The board postponed the decision yesterday, deciding to combine evidence from preceding hearings.

The Paradise Development Group's plans to raze three homes to install a drive-through encountered opposition from the Greater Park Place Neighborhood Association last fall.

The store and parking are proposed for commercial property. Neighborhood spokesman John Mayberry said the group would not oppose the project if the driveway were also on property zoned commercial.

The zoning board heard Paradise's request for a special exception on Jan. 5 but did not rule on the matter.
