A pizza delivery man died five hours after he was shot in the head during an apparent robbery attempt in Braddock.
Christopher Williams, 36, of Whipple Street in Swissvale, was pronounced dead at Mercy Hospital at 11:12 p.m. Monday.
Mr. Williams had about $90 in cash on him. Investigators believe the culprit did not have time to steal any money before residents began coming outside in response to the noise.
An autopsy showed Mr. Williams died from a gunshot wound of the head. He had just delivered two pizzas for $23 to an address at Camp Avenue and Second Street around 6:13 p.m.
Moments later, as Mr. Williams headed for his running car, he was shot.
Allegheny County homicide detectives are investigating.
Mr. Williams worked for Vocelli Pizza, which yesterday announced a $2,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the killer.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Percy E. Law Jr. Funeral Home in Wilkinsburg.
Police ask anyone with information to call them at 412-473-3000.
