Suspects in Va. killings face arrest in Washington County case
Thursday, January 12, 2006

The Washington County district attorney is scheduled to meet with other local authorities in pursuing homicide charges against a suspect in a Virginia killing spree who is also a person of interest in the death of his wife here.

Washington, Pa., Police Chief John Haddad said he planned to meet with District Attorney John Pettit to discuss possible charges against Ricky Gray, and possibly another suspect, Ray Joseph Dandridge, both 28, in the death of Mr. Gray's wife, Treva Terrell Gray, 35.

Ms. Gray's body was found Nov. 5 near a steep embankment on Brookside Avenue in Washington. Police said there were no immediate signs of trauma. The county coroner's office has not released a cause of death, but has ruled her death suspicious.

Police are also interested in finding out what role, if any, the two men might have had in a Nov. 3 home invasion and beating that left a Washington, Pa. man comatose for the past two months.

"We had an assault ... we're looking for these two only because they were in the area at the time," said Chief Haddad. "Obviously they have a history and they were not suspects until recently."

Both Mr. Dandridge and Mr. Gray were arrested in Philadelphia Saturday and extradicted to Virginia on Monday to face murder conspiracy charges in the deaths of seven people from two Richmond, Va., families.

Police in Washington, Pa., and Ms. Gray's relatives said the arrests in the Virginia killings heightened suspicion about the suspects' possible involvement in Ms. Gray's death and the earlier assault.
