ASHTIN PRIMUS
SCHOOL: Connellsville
WHO IS HE? A senior and one of the top wrestlers in the state.
LAST WEEK: Primus won the 140-pound division at the Powerade Christmas Tournament at Canon-McMillan. Primus, who had lost in the final the past two seasons, won the title with a 7-4 victory against Shaler's Nick Nelson.
SEASON: Primus has a 16-1 record.
FOR THE RECORDS: Primus, a PIAA champion last year, has a career record of 148-20. Not only does he have a chance to break the school record for victories, but he also has a shot at the WPIAL record. Jarrod King has Connellsville's record with 160 wins, while McGuffey's Jeremy Hunter has the WPIAL record with a 171-2 mark.
SHOOTING FOR GOALS: Primus tries to touch his goals -- literally. He has a weight room in his house and he posts his goals on a wall in the room. "I put them on a piece of paper and pin them on the wall," Primus said. "Then, I touch them after every workout." Next goal on the wall? "The PIAA individual title," he said.
SISTER ON THE MAT: Primus has a twin sister, Ashlee. Although Ashlee never has competed in wrestling, she used to help train Ashtin. "We have a wrestling mat in our basement," Ashtin Primus said. "When I was 9 or 10 years old, my dad used to always make me wrestle her, sometimes three or four times a week. I remember times she used to beat me."
THE FUTURE: Primus has signed with the University of Missouri.

SCHOOL: Shady Side Academy.
WHO IS SHE? A 5-foot-8 forward who leads the girls' basketball team in scoring (14.3 points per game) and rebounding (8.0).
THE PAST WEEK: Woelfel scored 20 points Tuesday in a 60-32 victory against South Allegheny, and 17 Dec. 28 in the title game of the Serra tournament, a 58-49 loss to the host school. Shady Side Academy (9-2, 3-0) is in first place in Section 4-AA.
CAREER: A starter since the opener of her freshman season, Woelfel has scored 1,037 points. She reached the 1,000 milestone in the opener of the Serra tournament Dec. 27, a 57-29 win against Greater Works Academy.
UP TO CHALLENGES: Being a 5-8 forward, Woelfel is often at a height disadvantage. But she thrives near the basket. "She's always having to go against the other team's 5-10, 6-foot player," said her coach, Amy Szlachetka. "But she is tough inside, extremely competitive."
GOAL-ORIENTED: Woelfel was a first-team all-section selection the past two seasons, but basketball isn't her signature sport. It's soccer. She is an outstanding goalkeeper.
FUTURE: Woelfel spurned basketball offers to play soccer at Rollins College in Winter Park, Fla. "It was a tough decision, but I could not live without soccer," she said.
