Ward, Hampton named Steelers MVPs
Thursday, December 29, 2005

Receiver Hines Ward and nose tackle Casey Hampton - players who received contract extensions at the beginning of the season - were named the Steelers' co-Most Valuable Player today in a vote by teammates.

Ward leads the team with 68 receptions and 935 yards and is second in the NFL to Marvin Harrison of Indianapolis with 11 touchdown catches.

Hampton, who came back from knee surgery that ended his 2004 season in Week 6, doesn't post gaudy numbers because of the position he plays. But he is the player responsible for drawing double teams that allows linebackers James Farrior and Larry Foote to make so many tackles.
