Kecksburg
After years of teasing and derision, UFO investigator Stan Gordon continues "researching the unusual" from his Greensburg home.
On Dec. 10 he's hosting a 40th anniversary commemoration of The Kecksburg Incident at the Westmoreland village where some say a UFO fell to Earth in 1965 and was quickly whisked away by a U.S. military unit.
The program includes videos and speakers from New York and Washington, D.C., including SciFi Channel's Larry Landsman, whose "UFO Advocacy Initiative" is pursuing government records on the Kecksburg event through the Freedom of Information process. Attorney Lee Helfrich will discuss status of a lawsuit filed in 2003 against NASA for "stonewalling" investigators' information requests. Several witnesses to the UFO crash are also expected to attend.
The Kecksburg Volunteer Fire Department UFO and Festival Committee will unveil the restored Kecksburg UFO Monument behind the fire station and will sell Kecksburg UFO T-shirts and other memorabilia.
The event begins at 1 p.m. at the Kecksburg Fire Hall. Call Mr. Gordon at 724-838-7768.
