Thursday, November 17, 2005

The Commonwealth Financing Authority has voted to award $8 million for the proposed Eastside development in East Liberty.

Funding will be a $2.9 million grant and $5.1 million in loans as part of the Business in Our Sites Program, according to state Sen. Jim Ferlo.

The Eastside project will consist of two levels of shops and businesses and parking spaces for 400 cars. So far, tenants include Walgreens, Starbucks, two banks, a spa, a dentist's office and a wine and spirits store.

The project sits on Centre Avenue east of the Whole Foods market and will be linked to Shadyside via a pedestrian bridge.
