A silent auction of photographs at and to benefit Pittsburgh Filmmakers quietly harbors several treasures donated by local photographers.

Lynn Johnson, who works internationally, contributes an untitled 1997 black-and-white print of a Chinese street scene where images of Communist Party Chairman Mao Tse-Tung and an American movie star share billing. Mark Perrott's seminal 1981 "Eliza; House, Furnace, Skyline," an homage to the vanishing steel industry, is offered as a 16-by-16-inch gelatin silver print.

Associated Artists of Pittsburgh 2005 Annual awardee Tim Fabian displays a tactile rendition of a set of steps in "Fineview." Karen Kaighin's abstracted chromogenic print "Weeds" appears as ephemeral and mysterious as a dew-laden spider web at sunrise. Rob Long, whose work was included in "Pittsburgh NOW" this year at Silver Eye Center for Photography, shows a color- and light-infused "Smithfield Street Bridge at Twilight."

A dozen others complete a range of choices. The minimum starting bid is $50, and none had capped $200 by the end of last week. Bids may be placed in person until 7 p.m. or e-mailed or faxed until 4 p.m. tomorrow.

Filmmakers is at 477 Melwood Ave., North Oakland. For information, call 412-681-5449.
