In the rain and cold yesterday, 35 people showed up at Freedom Corner, Hill District, for the National Day Against Police Brutality.
Wearing rain ponchos and track shoes, they marched Downtown to the Allegheny County Courthouse to rally for justice, demand fair treatment and that police be held accountable for their actions.
Marchers said protests are still needed because around the country, thousands of people of color are being arrested, detained or deported without legal recourse and that racial profiling is on the rise.
Celeste Taylor, an event organizer, said she was disappointed in the size of the protest, but said "everything's not convenient, we have to sacrifice. Every year, as long as there's an unjustified death by police, we need to be here."
