| The 14-story, 275-unit Garfield Heights High Rise was imploded at noon. |
Right on schedule, a public housing high-rise apartment building in Garfield was demolished in a controlled explosion at noon today.
The 14-story, Garfield Heights High Rise, built in the 1960s, is being cleared as part of the redevelopment of the area. Residents are moving to new, less-concentrated housing in the area.
Residents of other Garfield Heights buildings were evacuated before the implosion, which took just a few seconds.
