Carlton Cardiology Associates Inc. was granted accreditation by the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Echocardiography Laboratories (ICAEL) and the American College of Radiology for its echocardiographic and vascular ultrasound laboratory. New Business/ New Offices
24-7 VISION LLC , a provider of video surveillance and monitored security, announced the opening of its corporate headquarters, 3468 Babcock Blvd., North Hills.
InterTECH Security has begun its move into a larger facility in Frederick, Md., to accommodate the company's growth. InterTECH currently operates offices in Warrendale, Morgantown W.Va., and Gaithersburg, Md., and will be moving all Gaithersburg operations to the larger Frederick space on Grove Road.
Contracts
L.J. Aviation has hired Giant Ideas to develop a corporate identity program.
LOI Inc. received a contract from Allegheny Ludlum for the supply of a high temperature roller hearth furnace. The furnace will be located at its Washington Plate facility and will reheat a wide range of specialty steel plates for rolling.
General Industries of Charleroi was awarded the contract to serve as the general contractor for the $14 million dollar Nationwide Centre Office Building in Washington, Pa. Millcraft Industries Inc., of Canonsburg, is the master developer of the project. Nationwide Centre is the first phase of "The Crossroads" -- a $100-million-dollar mixed-use urban revitalization project in downtown Washington. Nationwide Centre is a 156,000-square-foot, seven-story office building that will be the new headquarters for Nationwide Appraisal Services Corporation.
Marmion Marketing Communications was selected as the advertising agency of record for the following companies: Seal Guard, a Mars-based manufacturer of sealants for the waterworks industry, and KIPO Motors, a Suzuki auto dealer located in Lockport, N.Y.
Crytzer Communication is providing marketing communication services for The Silver Ring Thing.
Wheelabrator Air Pollution Control Inc. was awarded the design, supply and installation of Wet Flue Gas Desulfurization (FGD) systems at PPL Corp.'s Montour power plant, Units 1 and 2, in Washingtonville, Pa. The Wet FGD systems at Montour will be designed to remove between 95 and 97 percent of sulfur dioxide emissions from the station's coal-fired boilers, which generate about 760 megawatts each. Construction of the Wet FGD systems is scheduled to begin in April and is expected to be completed in May 2008.
Lava New Media will provide Web design and technology services to the Mattress Factory and the Children's Institute.
Sewickley Graphics & Design Inc. was contracted for design and communications for the following three new accounts: Direct Settlement Services, to create a new logo, Web site and other materials for its marketing efforts; Don Conkey & Sons, Inc., to design and produce two new jewelry catalogs and Hussey Copper, to design and produce a product package design for a direct marketing effort to its clients and a overview brochure to communicate its manufacturing capabilities.
Grants/Loans
Tickets for Kids Foundation was awarded a $200 grant from the Friedman Family Philanthropic Fund of the United Jewish Federation Foundation. The grant supports Tickets for Kids' mission to enrich the lives of some of the most forgotten children and families in our area by including them in cultural, recreational and educational events they would otherwise not be able to attend.
ASSET (Achieving Student Success through Excellence in Teaching) Inc. received a grant from the Vira I. Heinz Endowment of $350,000 to support ASSET's research and development project on science and math integration.
Junior Achievement of Southwest Pennsylvania was awarded a $15,000 grant from the H.J. Heinz Co. Foundation to support JA's Urban Outreach Program.
