A special single-malt beer aged for a year and a half in an old bourbon cask will be the liquid highlight of a "Premier Cigar Dinner & Craft Beer Tasting" at the Church Brew Works in Lawrence-ville.
Brewer Bryan Pearson's very strong brew promises to not only taste a little like bourbon, but also cause "a slight warming sensation," according to a notice about the event, which runs from 7 to 10 p.m. Sept. 6.
The menu, designed by executive chef Jason Marrone and executive sous chef Gene Evans, includes Buffalo-style frog legs and other appetizers, entrees such as applewood- and tobacco-smoked roast pork loin and two desserts.
Diners get the beer tasting and buffet, a souvenir pint glass, a raffle ticket for a five-liter keg of beer, and at least three fine cigars from the co-sponsoring Allegheny Smokeworks in Blawnox. Tickets are $45 in advance or $50 that night, but reservations are recommended and can be made by calling the Church Brew Works at 412-688-8200 (www.churchbrew.com) or Allegheny Smokeworks at 412-828-6653 (www.alleghenysmokeworks.com).
