People on the Move

Profile of the Week

John M. Gloninger

•  Job: Associate director, Office for Stewardship and Development, Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh

•  Age: 42

•  Ambition: To work hard at work worth doing

•  First job: Delivering film for Wonday photo labs.

•  Hardest job/why: Delivering film for Wonday -- no air conditioning in the car!

•  Biggest work challenge ever: To convince people they will benefit from their gift of time, talent and treasure.

•  Favorite stock/mutual fund: None -- strictly asset allocation.

•  Away from work I: Spend as much time as possible with wife and three kids; run; piano/guitar; read history and theology; travel, especially to southern Italy to visit family.

•  Dream vacation: I have it every year -- in Lavello (southern Italy) with my wife's family; wheat fields, olive groves, vineyards and beaches; lots of family time, late meals, late nights and lazy afternoons.

•  Favorite books: "Brideshead Revisited" by Evelyn Waugh, and "We Wish To Inform You That Tomorrow We Will Be Killed With Our Families" by Philip Gourevitch.

•  If I won the lottery, I'd: Pay off Mom's mortgage and buy her a house in Stone Harbor, N.J.; pay off my mortgage; endow the Bishop's Education Fund; and build a first-class home for Rwandan orphans who lost parents to AIDS or genocide.
