Profile of the Week

Crystal Bynum

•  Job: Director of new business development, Bynums Advertising Service

•  Age: 22

•  Ambitions: To make sure that every business in Pittsburgh understands what Bynums has to offer. I also anticipate enrollment in a graduate program for Professional Leadership. In my personal life, I plan to increase involvement with organizations that serve Pittsburgh's elderly community.

•  First job: Clerical assistant, Bynums Advertising Service.

•  Hardest job: During my college years, I spent about three weeks as a temporary packaging assistant for a local factory. I quickly realized that I needed to return to a position that utilized my primary skills and involved a certain degree of creativity.

•  Biggest work challenge ever: Adjusting to the constant changes within a marketing agency. I've learned that change is a good and necessary aspect of company growth.

•  Away from work: This summer I took a West African drumming class. I also have a love for singing, reading, playing the piano and working out.

•  Dream vacation: Would include a trip to Mexico. I would spend most of my time shopping and attending musically centered cultural events.

•  Favorite Book: The books in the "Left Behind" series have been a favorite.

•  If I won the Lottery, I'd: Set aside a percentage of the winnings for an organization that fights poverty and illiteracy in Haiti (the Functional Literacy Ministry of Haiti). Then I'd probably go on a small shopping spree, and use the rest toward education and retirement plans.
