Firefighter injured in Brighton Heights
Saturday, July 30, 2005

A firefighter was injured when he apparently fell out of a jump seat as his fire truck turned a corner.

The firefighter, John Arnold, was taken to Allegheny General Hospital with a possible concussion after the accident shortly after 9 p.m. at Orchlee Street and Fleming Avenue, said John Walsh, battalion chief of the Fire Bureau's First District.

Arnold and members of Engine Co. 35 were responding to a report of an explosion and fire behind the old Western Penitentiary, but it turned out to be fireworks being set off.
