Governor Rendell says written apologies will be sent to the family of a dead Marine who was upset about the lieutenant governor's appearance at his funeral last week.
On Saturday, the Post-Gazette first reported that family members said Caherine Baker Knoll went to Tuesday's funeral uninvited, passed out her business cards and made a remark about the government being against the war.
The funeral was for 32-year-old Staff Sgt. Joseph Goodrich of Westwood, who died July 10 in Iraq.
Rendell said yesterday that he hadn't spoken to Knoll about it. But he says it's not the business of state government to have a position on the war. He says the state supports the men and women fighting the war.
Rendell says written apologies will be sent to the Goodrich family.
