Cash gets OK to practice
Thursday, June 30, 2005

McKeesport's Swin Cash, who has not played for the WNBA Detroit Shock this season, was cleared to resume on-court activity yesterday, but head coach Bill Laimbeer isn't sure when she will be able to play.

Cash, a forward and University of Connecticut standout, has been out with a torn right anterior cruciate ligament. The injury occurred in September.

"This is good news, but there's still not a definite date," Laimbeer said. "I'm hoping it will be in July."

Meanwhile, the Shocked traded Andrea Stinson and a 2006 draft choice to the Phoenix Mercury for Plenette Pierson. Laimbeer plans to use Pierson at small forward, the same position Cash plays. The Mercury waived Stinson immediately after making the deal, and signed center Maria Stepanova for the remainder of the season.
