Put fresh raspberries on the table

Raspberries are in, fresh off the farm and perfectly ripe. Raspberries make delectable pies, tarts and cobblers, but they are just as succulent placed in a bowl and sprinkled with a little sugar or freshly whipped cream.

These farms sell red or black raspberries, as well as blueberries. Always call for availability:

Paskorz Farm, Star Road off Russellton Road, West Deer, near Deer Lakes High School on Orange Belt; 724-265-3073. Hours: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays through Fridays; 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Blueberries and black raspberries to buy, or pick your own. Pick your own blueberries are $1.69 a pound, black raspberries $2.69 a pound.

Triple B Farms, off Route 51 at Elizabeth exit; 724-258-3557. Hours: 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Fridays; 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Black and red raspberries. Raspberries to purchase, but not to pick.

Sand Hill Berries, Mount Pleasant, 724-547-4760. Hours: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays; noon to 5 p.m. Sundays. Red raspberries only. Raspberries to purchase, but not to pick.

Schramm Farms, Export Road, Harrison City; 724-744-7320. Hours: 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays through Fridays; 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturdays; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays. Black raspberries. Call for availability.

Schramm's Farm Market, 291 Crisswell Road, south of Butler; 724-282-3714. Hours: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Fridays; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays. Black raspberries for purchase should be ready by July 4. Open 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 4. No pick-your-own.

Snyder's Farm, Route 68 East, 6 miles northeast of Butler going toward Chicora; 724-445-3116. Hours: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays. Black raspberries. Pick-your-own or already picked.

Reilly's Summerseat Farms, 1120 Roosevelt Road, Mount Nebo; 412-364-8270. A few pick-your-own red and black raspberries with fall-bearing red raspberries in late August or September. Call for availability. Hours: 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sundays.

Trax Farms, Route 88, Finleyville; 412-835-3246. Hours: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays; 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays. Red raspberries for purchase. Blueberries and black raspberries later in the month. Call for availability. No pick-your-own.
