Cyclist struck, injured by car along Rt. 980

The sports editor of a South Hills newspaper was seriously injured yesterday after being struck by a car while she rode her bike in Cecil, according to KDKA-TV.

Eleanor Bailey, sports editor at The Almanac, a weekly newspaper based in McMurray, was riding her bicycle along Route 980 when she was struck by a car around 8 p.m.

Bailey, who was wearing a helmet, was transported by helicopter to Mercy Hospital last night. Her condition was not available.

Police said they didn't anticipate that charges would be filed against the driver.
