Name: Elizabeth Prycl.

Age: 83.

Residence: Hempfield.

Senior Olympics sports: Swimming, shot put, discus and javelin.

Athleticism as youngster: She grew up in Troy Hill swimming and playing recreational softball and basketball.

Athleticism as an adult: The longtime swim instructor began winning medals in the Pennsylvania Senior Games in Shippensburg in the 1980s and doing likewise at the national Senior Olympics soon after that. She swims in butterfly, breaststroke and individual medley events at Trees Pool this week. She's a regular competitor for the Greensburg masters swimmer program.

Health and fitness: She teaches water aerobics classes three times a week and is a swim instructor for youngsters but doesn't have an exercise routine outside of the pool. Taking care of her property and doing the washing and cleaning and other household chores keeps her active.

Senior Olympics thoughts: "I don't expect to do well because I haven't practiced for it. ... Basically, my whole theory at this point is, 'If I can't beat you, I'm going to outlive you.' "
