INDIANAPOLIS (38-24) won at Rochester, 13-5. Justin Reid (5.16) allowed four runs, seven hits and five walks in 32/3 innings. Jeff Miller (1-3, 3.28) pitched 31/3 scoreless innings of relief. 2B Cesar Crespo (.271) hit his fifth home run, LF Nate McLouth (.322) his second and C Ronny Paulino (.381) his first. Each had three hits. 3B Ty Wigginton (.154) went 1 for 5 with a two-run double.
ALTOONA (32-28) split a doubleheader with Akron, winning, 5-2, and losing, 5-3. In the first game, Tom Gorzelanny (3-2, 3.48) allowed two runs and seven hits in 62/3 innings, striking out six and walking one. In the second game, Hansel Izquierdo (2-4, 5.91) allowed five runs, four earned, and eight hits in five innings. 1B Josh Bonifay (.252) hit his ninth and 10th home runs in the doubleheader, RF Jorge Cortes (.285) his second.
LYNCHBURG (38-25) split a doubleheader at Salem, losing the opener, 5-0, on the road, and winning, 6-5, at home. In the first game, Wardell Starling (5-3, 4.90) allowed five runs, five hits and four walks in 32/3 innings. DH Pat Magness (.302) went 5 for 7 in the doubleheader. RF Adam Boeve (.321) hit his 10th home run.
HICKORY (21-39) lost at Rome, 4-3. Kurt Shafer (1-4, 5.67) allowed four runs, two earned, and seven hits in five innings. C Neil Walker (.273) went 3 for 4.
