Folk-blues music legend Odetta, a seminal force in the American music of the 20th century, will headline Calliope: The Pittsburgh Folk Music Society's 2005-06 concert season.
Odetta sings in a powerful, traditional style that earned her a Presidential Medal of Arts award. In a career that has spanned a half century, she's recorded 27 albums. The most recent, "Lookin' for a Home (Thanks to Leadbelly)," received two 2002 W.C. Handy Awards nominations and charted among the year's Top 10 Blues Albums at Amazon.com. Odetta performs Jan. 21, 2006 at Carnegie Lecture Hall.
