On the gardening front: auction, classes and iris show

Dahlia sale

The Greater Pittsburgh Dahlia Society will hold a root and plant auction at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow on the second floor of the Munhall Borough Building, 1900 West St.

This auction will include plant cuttings as well as tubers (roots). All plants must be paid for by cash or checks on the day of the auction.

Classes at Reilly's

Reilly's Garden Center in Ohio Township will hold two free seminars. Reservations are required.

10 a.m. today: "Mosses and Moss Gardening" by Cindi Fink.

11 a.m. May 28: "Herb Heaven" by Jeff Berta, production manager for Slippery Rock Greenhouses. He will discuss growth, propagation and pest control.

Iris show

The 53rd annual Iris Show sponsored by the Pittsburgh Iris and Daylily and the American Iris Society will be held from 1 to 9 p.m. next Saturday at the Galleria mall, Mt. Lebanon.

The show is free and open to the public. Entries will be accepted from 8 to 10:30 a.m. the day of the show. It is not necessary to be a member of the Iris and Daylily Society to enter. Beginning at 10 a.m., irises, perennials and a large selection of daylilies will go on sale.
