Dancers gather around Fox television producer Nicola Gaha (above) as she explains the audition process for a national dance competition yesterday to candidates gathered in the dance department of Slippery Rock University.
The yet-to-be-named program will premiere on the Fox Television Network in July. It is billed as the dance version of the program "American Idol."
Dancer attire generally ranged from traditional leotards to the occasional Steelers jersey. Kiley Durst of New Castle, a graduating dance major at Slippery Rock University, immediately stood out from the crowd as she performed the Indian classical "Bharatanatyam" dance (below) for Gaha.
About 30 people auditioned and had interviews. Selected dancers, including Durst, were invited to a June callback.
