For many, she is still the beautiful brunette from "Charlie's Angels," but Jaclyn Smith has moved on. Her eponymous clothing and furniture lines have hit a chord with consumers, making her clothing brand one of the most successful in the country. While the apparel is distributed through Kmart, Smith has partnered with Largo International and Hickory Hill Furniture Company to bring her vision of stylish home furnishings to a wider audience. After three marriages, the 57-year-old has found happiness with Dr. Bradley Allen. They have been married since 1998. Smith continues to act when the script is right and will star in the Hallmark Channel's "Ordinary Miracles" Saturday at 9 p.m.

Q. When people hear your name, the first thing they think is "Charlie's Angels."

A. Absolutely. It doesn't make me cringe. I think I'm probably one of the angels who says, "OK, it was great. It opened doors. It's part of my history." It was an education. It was a lot of things. It opened me up to another world.

Q. Do you stay in touch with Farrah Fawcett and Kate Jackson ?

A. Oh, yeah, they are very good friends. There is definitely a bond there. We do stay in touch, but we are very busy. I have taken on my furniture line, my apparel line, and my husband is a pediatric heart surgeon in Houston. My mother happens to live there, so I am back and forth. And I have kids in college. I am a mother first and foremost, you know, a family person.

Q. With so much going on, why even bother doing TV movies?

A. [Laughing] That's what my mother said. I just have a very strong work ethic, and I probably suffer from empty nest. You know, they are on their own, doing their thing. My husband sometimes works 15 hours a day. So work is a part of my life that defines me in another way. It gives me independence. I love working. I love being challenged. I think when we are stimulated, we are more interesting. I love acting. The more I do, the more I know about it and the more I love it. I am fortunate I don't have to work, and I do turn down things.

Q. Do you wear the clothes you sell through Kmart?

A. Oh, yeah. I just did "Oprah" and wore an incredible black pinstripe suit with this wide-collar gray shirt. You can't beat it. The clothes are long-lasting, and we're coming up on the 20-year anniversary. Kmart has had its ups and downs, but with Eddie Lambert there, well, he's turned that store around. We all need to invest in Kmart stock! [Laughing]

Q. You didn't buy into the Hollywood lifestyle?

A. No, not at all. It was never a consideration for me. My thrills and my joys don't come from a party. I don't know how people do that and do a movie or do that and raise children. I think it's sort of what you are from day one. I was very grounded with an incredible family, and maybe this is somewhat abnormal. There was no rebellious streak in me. I just adored my parents, and I wanted to please them. I have two teenagers. I always want them to be open and relate to me, but it is certainly different from the way I grew up and the way I thought. You move with the times.

Q. As an outstanding beauty, are you concerned about the aging process? Will you go the natural route?

A. Well, I'm never going to say never. My mother certainly went naturally, and I think she is beyond beautiful. I don't like when you are just so pulled. That's obsessive, and I think anytime you are desperate and obsessive it's not attractive. As my mother says, "You can't change the look out of your eyes." I am not against plastic surgery; I'm a little frightened of surgery in itself. The funny thing -- I haven't gone through a midlife crisis. I've gone through empty nest; seeing a stroller in the park and realizing those days are gone was sort of more scary to me. But, yeah, we all want to look our best, we all want to stay in shape. I'm married to a heart surgeon. He says I need to do aerobic exercises and eat low-fat. And I do all that. But am I obsessed with aging? No. It's because I'm busy. I'm challenged. I am living beyond myself with my kids. Hey, we are all gonna age.
