Wednesday, April 27, 2005

Hey guys. Want your kids to grow up happy and well-adjusted? Forget screaming on the sidelines of Junior's Little League game. Don't bother tossing Princess the keys to a brand-new Lexus on her sweet 16th. Here are the best qualities of a good dad, according to responses from a nationwide representative sample of 1,000 men surveyed by Opinion Research Company and Best Life magazine.

Thirty-five percent said the most important characteristic of a good father was being a good communicator, and here's how the rest of the qualities rated:

Good role model: 27 percent
Spends time with the kids: 24 percent
Committed to providing for the family: 12 percent
Strong disciplinarian: 02 percent.
The median age was 39 for those surveyed who had children and the average age of children in the households was 9.
