This is when local florists do their best to impress (under the coordination of Tim Condron), and they succeeded magnificently. Especially fabulous was the Flower Barn's lake in the middle of the Music Hall lobby, a fragrant place to gather between bouts of shopping and drinking at Thursday's elegant Preview Party.
Chairs Susan Jones Block (with John) and Joanie Kamin (with Sam) made sure there was plenty of everything from fine food (from top restaurants and purveyors) to ample bars, all beautifully decorated in pale neutrals and dramatically lit by decorations chair Nancy Byrnes.
But it was show chairs Stephanie Flannery (with Tom) and Karen Lally Meck (with Jack) who planned the whole weekend and injected fresh spirit into this much-anticipated event sponsored by the Museum of Art Women's Committee. Many new dealers were on the scene with glorious wares at notably more affordable prices. Stellar guest speakers offered a well-rounded look at life at home, or in the garden. From Town & Country editor-in-chief Pamela Fiori and British designer Nina Campbell to garden designer John Carloftis and antiques expert Leslie Hindman, there was reason to return several times throughout the weekend.
Vowing to do just that were Women's Committee president Gail Murphy (with Tom), CMA director Richard Armstrong, Elsie Hillman, Marshall and Wallis Katz, Ida Mae and Jim Rich, Janet and Bill Hunt, Dr. Jim Dill and Minette Bickel, Kenny and Gordon Nelson, Sara Scaife, Alex Mellon, Brooks and Alexandra Robinson, Joe and Molly Walton, Steve and Peggy McKnight, Ned and Sally Randall, birthday girl Kitty Hillman with Richard Burkland, Dick and Virginia Simmons, Betsy and Bill Amis, Alex and Silvia Speyer and more.
