A Washington County man is to appear at a preliminary hearing this morning after being arraigned Friday on charges of child pornography, along with raping an 11-year-old relative and another child.
Daniel Segen, 44, of Washington, was arrested Friday in his apartment at the George Washington Hotel in Washington after e-mail tips from America Online and a search of his residence turned up evidence of child pornography on videotapes and his computer.
Segen was charged with rape of a child, statutory sexual assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault, sexual abuse of children, and corruption of minors. He was arraigned before District Judge Valarie Costanzo and remains in the Washington County Jail on a $250,000 cash bond.
According to a police report, Segen confessed to raping the girl as well as a 12-year-old boy.
Videotapes in the apartment contained images of Segen having sex with the two children, and of the two children engaging in sexual intercourse, oral sex and other sexual activity. Dozens of other child pornography videos were found, state police computer crimes Investigator Glenn K. Bard said.
Bard said Segen was not related to the boy.
