Sokolowski's love of a good party is just as legendary, and close to 900 guests turned out to party with him at the Southside Works. The venue was the choice of Teri and Damian Soffer, who developed this coolest complex in town and served as gala chairs. Their style was reflected everywhere, but especially in the hiring of Bon Sendall's All in Good Taste to stage the event. Sendall's signature long, lean tables covered one end of the room, where 450 dinner guests adjourned after cocktails for Elysian Fields lamb and cous cous while the Billy Stritch Trio played. It was magical, especially when some long-legged dancers strutted down the tables and everyone followed to the dance party, where dessert and 400 more guests in fabulous outfits and even more imaginative shoes joined the fray. A live auction (nearly drowned out by rude guests who wouldn't stop talking) included a dinner with director John Waters and a wardrobe of shoes by Ashley Dearborn. You can bid via Ebay (seller name theandywarholmuseum) through the end of the month on the shoe drawings by famous folks like Manolo Blahnik and Patti Smith. Board chair Christine Toretti Olson (with husband Lute, Arizona's famed basketball coach), was a primary sponsor for the gala. Only sour note, no lemons at the bar (not to mention plain vodka!).
Celebrating a perfect 10 were Janet Sarbaugh and Bill McAllister, Ann and Marty McGuinn, Tom and Gail Murphy, Jim and Susanne Wilkinson, Don and Bea Carter, Stephanie and Bill Spence, Merrill and Miroya Stabile, artist Caio Fonseca, Eddie and Anne Lewis, Bill and Rose Strickland, Jacqui and Jeff Morby, Jim and Suzy Broadhurst, Cliff and Diane Rowe, Bill and Janet Hunt, Barbara Barry, John and Kathleen Miclot, Cyndy Mosites, Jerry and Barbara Chait, Debby Dodds, Hilary and Charles Porter, Kitty Hillman and Richard Burkland, Al and Mary Costa, Bernita Buncher, Bill Dietrich and Jane Treherne-Thomas, Andy's brother George Warhola, Alice Snyder, Laurie and Jim Bly, Hilda Fu, Judy and Ron Davenport, Clive Jones, Toto and Jim Fisher, Jill and Chuck Brodbeck, Caryn Rubinoff and Craig Dunham, Michael and Beth Kuhn, Mark and Catherine Loevner, Judy Linaburg, Diane Greco, Tim Condron, Drs.
