Birds of a Feather ...
They will tell you it was for the birds, but the cigars and champagne followed by a gourmet feast and fine wines didn't ruffle any feathers. The annual Gentleman's Night Out to benefit the National Aviary continues to cause a migration of men to the Westin Convention Center. Among the friends and fowls gathered Friday night were aviary director Dayton Baker, the event founder Jack Mascaro, Tom Grealish, Edwin Klett, Marc Mondovi (of Charles Krug Winery) and County Executive Dan Onorato.

Man-Made Quilts
Jim Mikula, in a colorful, hand-quilted vest, made the evening's fashion statement at Saturday's preview reception for "Man-Made Quilts" on view through April 17 at Westmoreland Museum of American Art in Greensburg. Mikula, Pete Buchan and Shawn Quinlan, all area residents, were the only quilters among the 22 in the show at the reception. Checking out their work were Nancy and Chuck Anderson, Barbara and Dick Flock, Sande and Richard Hendricks, Sister Lois Sculco, Wilda Kaylor and Rose Mack.

Casino at Concordia
It doesn't have to be the real deal to feel the thrill of a full house, which is why the second annual National Council of Jewish Women's Monte Carlo Night was a hit. More than 200 guests came to the Concordia Club Saturday night to play poker and pull the one-armed bandits all to benefit the NCJW projects. Getting in on the action were event Chairs Dana Himmel (with Alan), Christine Stone (with Andrew) and Melanie Weisbord (with Steven).
