It was no surprise when two Pittsburgh "Survivor" stars -- Amber Brkich and Jenna Morasca -- appeared to have formed a bond when Brkich comforted a departing Morasca on "Survivor: All-Stars."
And it's not a great shock to learn the first "Joe Schmo" star, Matt Kennedy Gould, met Amanda Naughton, Jane Schmo from the second edition, for lunch at a local Eat'n Park.
Other connections are not so obvious. Gould went to high school with Tim Beggy, who starred in an early season of MTV's "Road Rules" and more recently in several spinoffs, and Gould once dated a girl who is good friends with Erin Elmore, currently starring in NBC's "The Apprentice."
"When I was applying to law schools, Erin guided me through that and helped me a lot," Gould said.
He's also found himself noticing Morasca, who works out at the same gym where Gould is a member.
"Even regardless of 'Joe Schmo,' I love celebrities and stuff like that," he said, noting that he's never approached Morasca to discuss their shared reality TV background. "I didn't want to be like, 'I was on a reality show and you were, too,' so I just leave it alone."
Recently he saw Morasca working out with her boyfriend, "Survivor: Africa" winner Ethan Zohn.
"It's still kind of funny to see them," Gould said, "especially Ethan. Jenna, she's from Pittsburgh, but with Ethan, it's like, 'I just saw him in People magazine. What's he doing in Pittsburgh?' "
