Amber, Rob to run 'The Amazing Race'
Thursday, January 20, 2005

Western Pennsylvania's "Survivor: All-Stars" winner Amber Brkich will appear in the 7th edition of CBS's "The Amazing Race," premiering March 1, running around the globe with her fiancee, fellow "Survivor" star Rob Mariano.

"They're a very strong team, very competitive," said "Amazing Race" executive producer Bertram van Munster. His wife, "Race" co-creator Elise Doganieri, said Amber and Rob called "Race" "their second favorite reality show."

Running the "Race" is "something that strengthens a team or tears them apart," Doganieri said. "I'm sure they had intimate discussions we didn't hear, but they're a strong team. They work well together."

"You see them as a team rather than as singles competing," van Munster said, contrasting their "Race" appearance with how viewers saw them on "Survivor: All-Stars."

That won't be the last we see of Amber in prime time.

"I'm working on their wedding," said "Survivor" executive producer Mark Burnett. He indicated it will air on CBS, the "Survivor" network, possibly as a May sweeps special or as a short-run summer series.
