Cooking With Kids: Buy chocolate chips for Chewy Brownies

Molly began making brownies from a mix but this recipe came from the result of lots of substitutions.

According to her mother, Judy, she makes these brownies with her friends for snacks.

Molly has been cooking with her mother since she was about 2 and enjoys improvising in the kitchen.

Her advice for other cooking kids is easy: "Make sure you clean up," said Molly.

CHEWY BROWNIES

  • 2 cups of chocolate chips, divided
  • 2/3 cup flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 eggs

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease an 8-by-8-inch pan. Microwave 1 cup of the chocolate chips until melted; set aside to cool.

Put all ingredients, including the melted chips, into a mixing bowl; mix until smooth. Pour all ingredients into greased pan and level with a knife.

Put into oven for 30 minutes until done. Let cool and cut.
