For Western Pennsylvania high school football, the Fabulous 22 is as much a part of Thanksgiving as turkey and stuffing.
This is the 24th year the Post-Gazette has published the Fabulous 22 all-star team on Thanksgiving Day. It is made up of the top players in the WPIAL and City League. And if the past is any indication, at least one player on this year's team has a good chance to play in a Super Bowl someday. Fourteen of the past 16 Super Bowls have included at least one former Fabulous 22 member.
Ten years ago, the Fabulous 22 team included four players in the NFL today -- North Hills' LaVar Arrington (Redskins) Central Catholic's Marc Bulger (Rams), McKeesport's Brandon Short (Giants) and Schenley's Darnell Dinkins (Ravens). Many other Fabulous 22 players go on to success in college.
