Two days after the Post-Gazette reported the sale of Lernerville Speedway to Boundless Motor Sports Racing, Inc., a federal securities filing yesterday revealed Boundless agreed to pay Lernerville ownership $3,240,000 for its assets.
Lernerville is a 0.4-mile dirt track on more than 100 acres in Sarver with a 37-year history of racing on Friday nights.
In addition, the track features several special events including some sanctioned by the World of Outlaws sprint and late model series that are owned by Boundless, which has recently approved changing its name to DIRT Motorsports, Inc.
"The acquisition of Lernerville Speedway follows our business plan of acquiring strategic dirt tracks across the country," Boundless Chairman and CEO Paul A. Kruger said yesterday in a statement.
"Lernerville's reputation and history will help us in our goals to significantly increase visibility of the World of Outlaws Sprint and World of Outlaws Late Model Series."
According to the filing, $500,000 will be paid to the owners, Helen Martin, Patty Martin Roenigk and Donny Martin Roenigk, at the closing. The rest will be spread over payments.
No schedule has been set for 2005, but officials Tuesday said three World of Outlaws Sprint Series events and two World of Outlaws Late Model Series races are slated to run at the track.
