Jeremy Bruce scored three touchdowns, including the winning score in overtime, as Blackhawk recorded a 27-21 upset of third-seeded Moon in the quarterfinals of the WPIAL Class AAA playoffs, last night at Slippery Rock University.

Bruce rushed for 81 yards on 15 carries and gave Blackhawk (8-3) its first touchdown on a 1-yard run in the second quarter. He scored again on a 25-yard touchdown pass from Alan Denman with 5:16 remaining in the fourth quarter to tie the game at 21.
Bruce carried all three times on Blackhawk's overtime possession, and scored on a 1-yard run. Moon (9-2) drove to the 3 on its possession, but fumbled on a fourth-down option play and Blackhawk recovered, thus ending the game.
Denman completed 11 of 27 passes for 183 yards and accounted for Blackhawk's other touchdown on a 20-yard pass to Josh Gumbert in the second quarter.
Moon was led by Casey Williams and Matt Dowdell. Williams rushed for 81 yards on 23 carries, and scored on a 16-yard touchdown run.
Dowdell completed 6 of 17 passes for 100 yards and connected with Mitch Morsillo on a 43-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter. Dowdell also scored on a 1-yard QB sneak with 8:02 remaining in the fourth quarter, which gave Moon a 21-14 lead.
Blackhawk accumulated 308 yards in total offense, including 125 on the ground. Moon had 247 yards, but had only 97 on the ground.
The victory avenged Blackhawk's 35-14 loss to Moon Oct. 8 in the Parkway Conference.
Blackhawk will make its second consecutive semifinal appearance next week against second-seeded Thomas Jefferson at a site and time to be determined.
