WPIAL Playoff Clinchings

The WPIAL will announce playoff pairings Monday night. In Class AAAA, the top six teams in the Quad East and Quad North qualify, as well as the top four teams from the Quad Southwest.

In Class AAA and A, the top four teams in each conference qualify. In Class AA, the top three teams from each of the five conferences qualify, plus one fourth-place "wild-card" team.

In the first round of the playoffs, the top three teams in the Quad North and Quad East, and the top two from the Quad Southwest play at home. In Class AAA and A, the top two teams in each conference play at home. In Class AA, the first-place finishers in the five conferences and three second-place teams play at home.

WPIAL Class AAAA

Quad North -- Upper St. Clair is first, Mt. Lebanon is second, Bethel Park third, North Hills fourth, North Allegheny fifth and Shaler sixth.

Quad East -- Central Catholic is first, Penn Hills second, Penn-Trafford third. Baldwin, Woodland Hills and Connellsville also have clinched. If Woodland Hills loses to Penn Hills today, the fourth, fifth and sixth spots will be decided by tiebreaker points and head-to-head competition. If Woodland Hills wins, then Woodland Hills is fourth, Baldwin fifth and Connellsville sixth.

Quad Southwest -- Gateway is first, McKeesport second, Plum third and Kiski Area fourth.


WPIAL Class AAA

Big Seven -- Thomas Jefferson is first, Canon-McMillan second, Chartiers Valley third and West Mifflin fourth.

Greater Allegheny -- Franklin Regional is first, Pine-Richland second, Hampton third, Knoch fourth.

Keystone -- Greensburg Salem is first, Yough second, Belle Vernon third and Mount Pleasant fourth.

Parkway -- West Allegheny is first, Moon second, Ambridge third and Blackhawk fourth.


WPIAL Class AA

Allegheny -- Burrell is first, Ford City second and Kittanning third.

Century -- Seton-LaSalle is first. The winner of today's South Park-South Fayette game is second and the loser third. Brentwood also qualifies as the fourth-place "wild-card" team.

Interstate -- Greensburg Central Catholic is first, East Allegheny second, and Jeannette third.

Midwestern -- Aliquippa is first, Beaver Falls second, Freedom third.

Tri-County North -- Laurel is first, Mohawk second and Neshannock third.

(Besides the first-place teams, East Allegheny, Ford City and the second-place team from the Century Conference will play at home in the first round)


WPIAL Class A

Big Seven -- Western Beaver, Farrell, Rochester and South Side Beaver have all clinched. If Western Beaver beats South Side Beaver today, Western Beaver is first, Farrell second, Rochester third and South Side Beaver fourth. If South Side Beaver wins, Farrell is first, Rochester second, South Side Beaver third and Western Beaver fourth.

Black Hills -- Canevin is first, Charleroi second, Chartiers-Houston third and Beth-Center fourth.

Eastern -- If Duquesne beats Serra today, the Dukes are first, Clairton second, Springdale third and Riverview fourth.

Tri-County South -- Monessen is first, Carmichaels second, California third and Jefferson-Morgan fourth.
