The Pittsburgh Dragon Boat Festival, washed out by the remnants of Hurricane Ivan last month, has been rescheduled for 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. next Saturday.
It'll be held on the Allegheny River at Millvale Riverfront Park; the free festival's Monongahela venue, Southside Riverfront Park, is still flood-damaged.
The rescheduling means half of the community teams had to drop out, but there'll still be plenty of races, plus most of the vendors and other land-based activities.
A new splash: A demonstration of kayak football, a sport to be played in a middle school league in the spring. You also can learn to row on the river or in the indoor rowing tanks at the association's Millvale training facility at two sessions before the festival (register online at www.ThreeRiversRowing.org).
