Daughters of Pennsylvania honors Pitt professor

An Edgewood professor is one of seven women named Distinguished Daughters of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Toni Carbo of the School of Information Sciences and Graduate School of Public and International Affairs at the University of Pittsburgh will be honored by Gov. Ed Rendell and his wife, federal appeals Judge Marjorie O. Rendell, at a Wednesday luncheon at the governor's residence.

Carbo, of the School of Information Sciences, has served by appointment as executive director, U.S. Commission on Libraries and Information Sciences, and has served on the Library of Congress National Advisory Committee. Carbo founded an information ethics program.

Correction/Clarification: (Published Oct. 15, 2004) Toni Carbo is a professor in the University of Pittsburgh's School of Information Sciences and was named a Distinguished Daughter of Pennsylvania. She was identified incorrectly as a dean.
